Lent is a season of the Church year that immediately precedes the season of Easter by 40 days plus 6 Sundays (this year: 2/17-4/3). It is a time of deep personal reflection on how one can better connect with God. Some people give up something they do or consume as a special act of self denial during Lent while others take something on that is a bit extra to the normal routines of life.
